$250K Bail For Suspect In Arlington Boys & Girls Club Sex Abuse Case
ARLINGTON, Mass. (CBS/AP) — A former Arlington man charged with sexually molesting children at the town’s Boys and Girls Club in the 1970s is being held on $250,000 bail after a court appearance Monday in Cambridge.
Paul Collins was arraigned in Cambridge District Court on charges of rape of a child by force, indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, and open and gross lewdness.
The 62-year-old Collins was arrested last week at his home in Centereach, N.Y.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Kim Tunnicliffe reports
Massachusetts authorities began investigating abuse allegations against another former Boys and Girls Club employee who has since died. During that investigation, police learned of accusations against Collins, who worked at the club until he was fired in 1980.
Prosecutors say he went on the run for 33 years living in Nevada, California, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York.
The charges allegedly involve several male victims now in their mid-40s.
