Wednesday's Child: 14-Year-Old Abegayle

BOSTON (CBS) - Abegayle, 14, is a Caucasian teenager who is typical in many respects; she is sociable, likes fashion, and has many friends.

She is a big fan of the singer Taylor Swift and would like to grow up to become an actress or possibly a cosmetologist. Abby is seeking a permanent family who will encourage and support her goals.

Abby, as she prefers to be called, enjoys and succeeds in school. She is in the eighth grade at a public school and was recently inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.

In past years, she has been on her school's swim team and played softball in a local league. Most recently, she was on the cheerleading squad.

Abby has been in a Spanish-speaking foster home and is bilingual. She can be stubborn and moody and would benefit from counseling, but she refuses it at this time.

Abby really wants a family, and her social worker is considering a family of any constellation, including those with and without other children.

Legally free for adoption, Abby will also need to maintain contact twice yearly with her mother and have some contact with her sisters.

To learn more about Abby, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org.

The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
