Patriots WR Danny Amendola Tries His Hand At Acting

FOXBORO (CBS) - It looks like the New England Patriots' new wide receiver Danny Amendola found a side job this off-season.

It may even get him recognized in his new town.

Amendola appears in a new Foot Locker commercial for ASICS, and tells a jogging buddy that he doesn't need the attention that comes with a new pair sneakers because he's "kind of a big deal in New England right now."

The ad takes a humorous twist when he asks a woman jogging by if she knows who he is and she responds awkwardly.

Amendola's contract with the Patriots is reportedly worth $31 million over five years.

The 27-year-old Amendola is a veteran of four NFL seasons with the St. Louis Rams. He has played in 42 NFL games with 17 starts and has accumulated 196 receptions for 1,726 yards and seven touchdowns, returned 89 punts for 934 yards and returned 188 kickoffs for 2,776 yards.

Amendola led the NFL in all-purpose yards in 2010 with 2,364 yards with 689 receiving yards, 81 rushing yards, 452 punt return yards and 1,142 kickoff return yards.

Amendola was brought in essentially to replace Wes Welker, who agreed to a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos this offseason.
