Improving Weather For Mother's...But Cool Is On The Way!

Another weak front will push through tonight, sweep away all the humidity and usher in a significant cool shot of air from the Great Lakes into the Northeast. Lows will fall into the 30's in the burbs with clearing skies tonight. Lows will hold in the 40's downtown with diminishing wind. Sunshine on Monday, with significant cold air advection diving into the Northeast with a trough in place across the Northeast. Cool air aloft will help for building daytime cumulus. Highs on Monday will be below average with highs only in the 50's to near 60 with sunny to partly sunny skies and a breezy WSW wind.

Monday night will be quite chilly for this time of year. A freeze watch is in affect for much of SNE away from the coast. Some areas across NY, & PA will be dealing with a more significant frost and freeze with cold air fully entrenched across the Appalachian valleys. In New England it appear the best chance of a frost/freeze will be in our NW valleys...but I would not be surprised to see a few frosty spots from Bedford to Norwood to Taunton early Tuesday morning. This kind of cold can be a killing frost to the buds on some fruit trees so it is something farmers will be watching closely. You will wont to bring in any plotted plants if you live in these cold areas

Building high pressure for Tuesday with sunshine and seasonally cool temps in the upper 50's and Lwr-mid 60's. Temps will start to warm on Wednesday as the trough lifts out of the northeast back into the 60's nearing 70. Clouds will increas in the afternoon ahead of a warm front. There will be a flatter flow to the jetstream for the middle to end of the week which will allow warmer air to flood back into New England with temps climbing back into the 70's for many inland areas with a warming trend into next weekend.

There a few questions in the extended forecast as we have a few weak fronts which could trigger a few showers from time to time and a wind shift. We will have to track a wave of low pressure riding south of New england which could provide for some cooling showers Saturday. The GFS has a warmer look, while the Euro has a cooler look...so the confidence of timing and intensity of showers...along with the temperatures remains a bit low at this point. The Euro holds onto the cooler look for the weekend...while the Warm GFS camp keeps temps in the 70's all weekend. This will have to be watched. Either way, it looks like a great stretch of weather is on the way!

Happy Mother's Day to one and all. It can be thankless exhausting work. Just know that you are the backbone to every family. Your family is your life's greatest work...and life's greatest gift.
