BOSTON (CBS) – Roasted apple and banana pizzas. Fireplaces. Pool Tables. Not exactly the type of things you’d typically find in a Mexican restaurant.
But then again, there’s nothing typical about the new Patron’s Mexican Kitchen and Watering Hole in Allston.
“Patron’s is kind of a unique concept… We got the fireplaces going and the candles, and exposed brick and high ceilings… we got some Mexican murals throughout the place… TVs are everywhere, great place to watch a game. It has kind of a cool vibe but yet it’s casual, it’s inexpensive,” Owner Marc Kadish says.
He is a man obsessed by beer, tequila, and Mexican flavors. But he always puts taste above authenticity.
“Our menu is Mexican-inspired, not necessarily authentic Mexican. So we have some stuff that’s not even Mexican with a Mexicain flair to it. We make our own Mexican popcorn, we pop it fresh every day,” Kadish says.
Patron’s menu boasts standards like sizzling fajitas, huge platters of nachos piled with two pounds of cheese, and carne asada marinated in coffee porter. But you can also find Mexican flatbread pizzas and cerveza steam burgers.
