BOSTON (CBS) – A couple thousand runners crossed the finish line at home plate inside Fenway Park on Saturday for the annual “Run To Home Base” 9K.
Hundreds of service men and women, their families, and first responders all participated in the special event that circles Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.
The walk/run benefits the Red Sox Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, which provides support for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or who have been physically injured.
It’s sponsored by New Balance.
Since the run began three years ago, it has raised over $9 million for veterans.
