Pedroia Endorses 'Hacksaw' Nickname For Napoli

BOSTON (CBS) -- On Wednesday night in Toronto, after the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 10-1, John Farrell said that Mike Napoli's two mammoth home runs were "impressive to say the least."

That truly was the least anyone could possibly say about those two home runs, Napoli's fifth and sixth of the year, on a night when Napoli drove in his MLB-leading 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st runs of the young season. The first homer traveled an estimated 472 feet, and the second traveled 467 feet.

So when you hit more than 900 feet of home runs, it's hard for people to find the words. Fortunately, one enterprising Twitter user found a picture and a nickname, and Dustin Pedroia happily approved of the new moniker for Napoli.

"I love this," Pedroia said while retweeting a picture of wrestler "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, who's yielding a two-by-four.

Napoli seemingly approved, too, based on his tweet of "Hoooooooooo!!!!"

Pedroia responded: "Yes I'm pumped you like it. Hacksaw is your new name. Sounds perfect and the beard plays well with it. Hoooooooooooo."

It's the type of nickname that, if Napoli continues to mash the way he has through the first month of the season, just might stick.
