Body Of Marathon Bombing Suspect Taken To North Attleboro Funeral Home

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — The body of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been claimed.

The 26-year-old’s body was brought from Boston to the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home in North Attleboro Thursday night. A group of protesters gathered outside the funeral home on Commonwealth Ave. after they heard the news.

Dyer-Lake Funeral Director Tim Nay told The Sun Chronicle that the body was only taken there temporarily, and it was transported to another funeral home late Thursday night.

The medical examiner determined Tsarnaev’s cause of death Monday, but officials said it won’t become public until his remains are released and a death certificate is filed.

Some residents of North Attleboro were furious Tsarnaev was in their town. “Leave him where he was,” said Pamela Michaud outside the funeral home. “Let his family come and claim him. Take him back to Russia. Do what you need to do with him but don’t bring him through our town.”

Tsarnaev died after a gunfight with authorities.

Police have said he ran out of ammunition before his brother dragged his body under a vehicle while fleeing the scene.

Brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev faces a charge of using a weapon of mass destruction to kill.

Their mother says the allegations are lies.
