Photo Of Bombing Victim's Birthday Gift Captures Inspiring Moment
BOSTON (CBS) - On any other day, in any other room, in any other city it could be seen as nothing more than a simple gesture of a gift.
But on Tuesday, when a man handed a small Macy's bag to a young woman, it was anything but simple.
That man was Jeff Bauman. He sat in a wheelchair, wearing a Red Sox t-shirt, a hospital blanket draped over what remains of his legs. And he's smiling.
That woman was Sydney Corcoran, celebrating her 18th birthday in a hospital room at Boston Medical Center that she shares with her mother, Celeste.
Sydney, Celeste and Jeff were all severely injured in last week's bombings at the Boston Marathon. Jeff and Celeste are both now double amputees. Sydney is recovering from a grave wound that severed her femoral artery.

The picture was captured by one of a small group of family and friends gathered in the hospital room with the mother and daughter. It has gone viral across multiple social media platforms - a single moment in time that captures the resolve of these vicitms, as they help one another recover.
