Norton Town Clerk's Husband Accused Of Trying To Murder Her

NORTON (CBS) - The Norton town clerk's husband has been held in jail without bail for allegedly trying to kill her Thursday morning in the estranged couple's home, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's office.

James Sicard, 44, is accused of trying to break the neck of his wife, Danielle, after telling the town clerk that he was going perform a relaxation technique then twisting her head violently.

Before the alleged attack, James Sicard told one of the couple's four children to say goodbye to his wife and hug her, according to testimony in court.

Police say the victim suffered bruises on her neck and face in Thursday's incident. She was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro and Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for treatment.
