Chris Kelly Close To Returning To Bruins

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Bruins got some bad news this week, with Patrice Bergeron suffering a concussion Tuesday night against Ottawa, but they at least may be closing to welcoming back another injured centerman.

Bruins coach Claude Julien told the media that Chris Kelly is progressing well in his recovery from a broken tibia and he will travel with the team to Montreal this weekend.

"It's just a matter of probably days now, versus a week," Julien said of the updated timetable for Kelly's recovery.

Kelly has been out since March 11, when he suffered the injury in a collision with Chris Neil in Ottawa. He's missed 12 games already, with Thursday night's home game against New Jersey being No. 13. With Bergeron out for an unknown period, the addition of Kelly to the lineup will be welcomed by the team.

"He'll be back soon," general manager Peter Chiarelli said on Wednesday. "I'm satisfied with his prospective return date, and he'll be playing for us soon."
