Video Shows Red Line Train Running With Doors Wide Open

BOSTON (CBS) – An alarming video shot aboard a subway train now has the attention of the MBTA.

The doors of a Red Line train were wide open as it made its' way into Andrew Station in South Boston recently.

Universal Hub first reported the story and posted the video on its' site.

The clip was shot by Erika Myllmaki, who put the video on YouTube Monday.

"I got on at Quincy Center and one side of the door door next to me wouldn't shut even when the train was moving. This is inside the tunnel pulling up to Andrew," she wrote on the site.

MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo told WBZ-TV the incident was reported Monday night and "the subway car was removed from service for repairs to the door."

Pesaturo said one of the door's components malfunctioned, causing it to stay open.

"With safety being a top priority, the Red Line has developed a new inspection procedure for the older Red Line cars that have this type of mechanism in the door," Pesaturo said.

"All of the older Red Line cars are being checked."

No injuries have been reported.
