JetBlue Starting Service At Worcester Regional Airport

BOSTON (CBS) - JetBlue is headed to Worcester Regional Airport.

Gov. Deval Patrick is expected to make the official announcement Wednesday.

The low-cost, popular airline has dozens of destinations in 21 states and flies to the Caribbean, South America and Latin America.

The terminal was ghostly Tuesday night, void of virtually any human traffic and it has been that way for a year.

The struggling airport has had its ups and downs but has yet to get off the ground.

Direct Air left the airport last spring and since then, no major carrier has been servicing the airport.

With the arrival of JetBlue, that could all change - giving Worcester-area residents an option other than Boston.
