Boston Medical Center Investigating Hepatitis B Outbreak

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Medical Center is investigating a Hepatitis B outbreak.

The hospital says several patients may have been exposed to the virus earlier this month through dialysis equipment that was not properly cleaned.

The hospital has notified all of the patients who might have been infected and is monitoring them closely.

A statement from Boston Medical Center said, "Additional measures have been put in place to avoid the possibility of a similar exposure in the future," the statement said in part.

Hepatitis B can cause serious health problems.

Patients are typically treated with vaccines.
