BRIDGEWATER (CBS) – A fundraiser is set for a 22-year-old East Bridgewater woman who suffered a stroke back in January.

Meaghan O’Brien has been recovering since she collapsed during a cycling class at her local YMCA.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Diane Stern reports

She continues to recover, but with costs mounting, friends are helping out with an April 5th fundraiser at the Commercial Club in East Bridgewater. Tickets cost $20 and can be ordered from Deana Kelley at 781-589-1037 or Jen Jardin at 508-561-0393.

Dr. Randie Black-Schaffer at Spaulding Rehab says strokes among young people are much more common than people think.

She says there are about 32,000 cases of strokes in people under the age of 40 each year in the United States.
