A Boston Police spokesperson says members of the Youth Violence Strike Force were on patrol when they arrived at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

At least one police officer fired shots in the altercation after he felt threatened for his safety, police said. No one was struck by the round fired by the officer.

Boston Police found a victim a few blocks away from the shootout with a hand injury that was not gun-related.

Police surrounded an auto body shop on Blue Hill Avenue but there is no word yet on why it was the focus of a search.

Three people were taken in for questioning but no charges have been filed.

Police are still investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to  contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1(800) 494-TIPS or text the word 'TIP' to CRIME (27463).
