Kevin Carmichael of Millis was arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court on a charge of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Police say the 40-year-old Carmichael was arrested Saturday after going to the Braintree police station to talk with detectives.

He was held on $25,000 cash bail pending his arraignment.

Police say Carmichael is under investigation for an alleged assault involving a 10-year-old girl that took place at his Masters Self Defense karate school during a private lesson.

Prosecutors say the 10-year-old told police Carmichael sat on her legs and pulled down her pants. Carmichael denies the allegations.

Authorities say the alleged incident took place in December and they learned of the allegation on Friday.
