Worcester State Rep. John Fresolo Investigated For 'Serious Allegations'

BOSTON (CBS) – Worcester state representative John Fresolo has denied reports that he's about to resign his seat.

Sources told WBZ-TV's Karen Anderon that Fresolo, a Democrat, is the target of an ethics investigation on Beacon Hill.

The exact reason remains unclear.

House Speaker Robert DeLeo would not confirm the reports, but he did issue a statement saying he is looking into "serious allegations" against an unnamed member of the House.

The allegations were made by "a House employee," DeLeo said.

Fresolo ignored members of the media waiting outside his home on Friday. He refused to answer the door, and when he left in his car, he refused to respond to questions about the ethics investigation at the State House.

He did tell the State House News Service in a brief conversation that he's not resigning.

Fresolo was elected to his eighth term in the House last year. He represents the 16th Worcester district.

WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson contributed to this report.
