Revere Boy Remains Hospitalized After Vicious Rottweiler Attack

REVERE (CBS) - A 14-year-old Revere boy is still hospitalized, after he was severely mauled to two rottweilers.

Brandon Marchetti hopped a fence at an equipment company Thursday evening to visit the two dogs that he befriended a year ago. But on this occasion, the owner was gone and the two dogs must have mistaken Brandon for an intruder, and they attacked.

Brandon's 12-year-old friend was outside the fence, and called 911. Police and firefighters arrived at the same time and as firefighters raced to get a hose going, a police officer shot one of the animals. Then, with firefighters hitting the other dog with water, the police officer rushed to Brandon, and got him out.

Brandon suffered severe wounds to his head, arms and legs. "He's going to need a lot of surgery," said his father Ray.

Neither of his parents could understand why the dogs chose to attack the boy. "He often went there and petted them," said his mother Silvana, "but now my heart is breaking for my son."

The owner of the dogs has now put them down.

Brandon will be hospitalized for some time.
