NH Adds Another Toll Plaza To The 'Honor System'

MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation is extending its overnight "honor system" to the Exit 11 toll plaza in Merrimack.

Starting Friday, the Exit 11 toll plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike will not be staffed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. During those hours, drivers who don't have an E-ZPass transponder will have three options: use the exact change lane and pay with exact change; use the exact change lane and grab an envelope that can be mailed in to pay the toll plus a 50-cent processing fee; or use the E-ZPass lane, have your license plate photographed and get sent a bill for the toll plus a $1 fee.

The changes are already in effect at Exits 10 and 12. Attendants are being reassigned to other shifts.
