BOSTON (CBS) – Kevin Garnett did not participate in the Celtics‘ Monday morning shootaround, and will not be in the lineup against the Miami Heat.
Garnett missed Saturday night’s game against the Bobcats with a left abductor strain, and head coach Doc Rivers listed his center as “50/50″ against Miami over the weekend. CSNNE’s A. Sherrod Blakely reported that Garnett was officially out about an hour before tip-off. Jeff Green will get the start instead.

While ending the Heat’s 22-game win streak would be a big accomplishment for the Celtics, Rivers has made it clear the team’s health is what matters most as they wind down the regular season.

In the two games Garnett has missed this season (last month in Phoenix due to rest and Saturday night against Charlotte), forward Jeff Green took over in the starting lineup. The Celtics managed to go 2-0 in those games without Garnett, though their opponent had a lot to do with it.
