The Boston Police were out in full force, both as a part of the parade and for security.
BOSTON (CBS) – Arrests were up significantly at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston this year.
Boston police took 32 people into custody Sunday, compared with just six in 2012.

“There seemed to be a lot of alcohol that was being consumed out there and being transported around on the outskirts of the parade, so we’re a little concerned about that and we may look at that in preparation for next year’s event,” Police Commissioner Ed Davis told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Monday.
Most of the arrests were for disorderly conduct.
More than 300 people were issued citations for public drinking.
Davis thanked his officers for what he called their “great work” at the parade.
