WORCESTER (CBS) – A 35-year-old woman whose body was found inside a Worcester apartment appears to have died from an overdose, police said Saturday.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Kim Tunnicliffe reports
Jodie Hubert died locked inside her second-story apartment, and her three and five-year-old children reportedly were both inside with her body.
It’s not clear when the woman died. Neighbors say they believe the children may have been alone for as long as four days.
“[The landlord] coached them to open the door,” said Ray Cicero, Hubert’s neighbor. “We brought them upstairs and fed them and took care of them until everyone came.”
A property manager reportedly found her body Friday night after showing up to inquire about an overdue rent check.
The woman has not been identified.
Both children were taken to UMass Medical Center for treatment. They are now in the custody of the the state.
