BOSTON (CBS) – If you’re traveling through the Allston-Brighton, Natick or Weston toll plazas on Friday evening, you may get a pleasant surprise.
The tolls will be free between 5 and 6 p.m. and Cumberland Farms and its SmartPay Check-Link program will be picking up the tab.
MassDOT says cash customers must still stop at the toll plaza.
E-ZPass holders will receive a credit on their monthly statement and details about SmartPay.
Along with covering the cost of all tolls, Cumberland Farms is also paying for signs and any promotional handouts.
MassDOT says last year, they logged approximately 12,000 toll transactions at the sponsored plazas on the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day.
