NEWBURY (CBS) – The Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island is one of the more visited wildlife refuges on the east coast.
The staff says visitors love to walk along the boardwalk down to the beach but they can’t do that now.
In addition to dozens of homes damaged on the island, last week’s storm damaged the boardwalk . That boardwalk is now closed.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Carl Stevens reports
Matt Poole is the visitors services manager. He’s not sure how long it will be closed.
“Some of the planks became unstable and as a result we’ve had to close that boardwalk until further notice,” Poole said.
Poole says because of the sequester, they don’t know where the money will come from to fix it.
