BOSTON (CBS) – The Patriots have been vocal about wanting to keep free agent receiver Wes Welker.
But with free agency just a few hours away, Welker reportedly hasn’t even gotten an offer from New England.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting the Patriots have yet to make an offer to Welker, who is set to become a free agent at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
You guys won't believe this: I said Wes Welker was waiting for the Patriots last offer. Received a correction: Actually their 1st offer—

However, ESPNBoston.com’s Mike Reiss refuted the report shortly after.
“This runs counter to what we’ve heard, which is that the Patriots have made an offer to Welker that is known to him to be on the table,” Reiss wrote in response to Rapoport’s report.
The Patriots opted not to franchise Welker for a second-straight year, and it was believed the two sides were working on an extension. Welker’s camp made it clear he would test the free agent waters, and even let it out that Welker was a little upset with the Patriots about how last season started, but it was mostly thought the two sides would come to an agreement after quarterback Tom Brady re-worked his deal to save the team cap space.

Now, only time will tell. It will be very interesting to see what happens when 4 p.m. rolls around.
