Bruins Recall Jordan Caron From Providence

BOSTON (CBS) -- On Thursday, the Bruins placed Chris Bourque on waivers with the intention of sending him to the AHL. On Friday, they've called up his replacement.

The Bruins recalled forward Jordan Caron from Providence. The Providence Journal's Mark Divver (via Twitter) was first to report the news.

Caron, still just 22 years old, has 71 games of NHL experience. He scored three goals and had four assists in 23 games in 2010-11, and he posted 7-8-15 totals in 48 games last season.

This year in Providence has been a bit of a step back for Caron, who was drafted 25th overall in 2009. He has just 10 goals and five assists in 44 AHL games. However, he's scored in his last two games and he posted 2-3-5 totals in eight games in the month of February, so the Bruins may feel he's in the process of turning his season around.

With Bourque on waivers Thursday night, the Bruins slid veteran forward Jay Pandolfo onto the third line. Pandolfo, 38, has no points in his four games and doesn't add much of a scoring threat and likely fits in better on the fourth line and penalty kill than he does alongside Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley.
