Marshfield Residents Plan To Ride Out Storm

By Beth Germano, WBZ-TV

MARSHFIELD (CBS) – The evening tide came and went with little trouble in the town of Marshfield, but all eyes are on the Friday morning tide. “They say it’ll clean our clocks,” said resident Mike Greelish who plans to ride out the storm. “You can’t take care of the damage if you leave,” he said.

Still, the town urged oceanside residents to evacuate before the next tide, the third in a series carrying high winds and seas. Deborah Gillis says she regretted staying in her Ocean Street home during the February blizzard and has already packed a bag. “You don’t know what’s going on outside, you hear a lot of banging noises,” she said.

Jay Harvey says he’s anxious about this storm after his deck was damaged and a wave came through his living room last month. He’s barely been able to clean up and get his insurance in order before worrying about this one. “I didn’t sleep last night and I won’t sleep much tonight,” he said. He plans to leave in the early morning saying he doesn’t want to be stranded if the impact of the morning tide is as great as predicted.
