Wednesday's Child: 14-Year-Old Devin

BOSTON (CBS) - Devin is an easy-going, active adolescent with a winning smile.

In his spare time, he loves riding his bicycle and being outside. In the summer, he enjoys going to the beach and doing water sports. Devin is considering playing football when he enters high school. Devin is seeking an active adoptive family that enjoys the outdoors and can appreciate his uniqueness.

Devin, 14, is of Caucasian and Indian descent. He is quiet at first but he opens up once he is comfortable around you. He has a great sense of humor and likes telling jokes. Devin is interested in cars, boats, tractors, computers, and tools.

Devin is currently in the eighth grade and receives academic supports in speech, language and reading. Devin has made significant gains in school and is looking to continue his education with a focus on developing a vocational skill. When Devin graduates from high school, he may like to join the Coast Guard and possibly prepare for a career as a mechanic or an engineer.

He is creative and enjoys using his hands. He is an expert at making survival bracelets using parachute chord and has even sold some of his ware.

Devin is legally free for adoption and would ideally like to be placed in an adoptive home with two parents or a single dad. If there were other children in the home, it would be best if they were close in age to Devin or older.

Devin lives in a foster home where he is responsive to his foster parents. Devin would do best in a home that is structured and consistent and has clear rules and expectations. It will be important to Devin to have post adoptive contact with his biological mother.

To learn more about Devin, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org.

The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
