State Police Trooper Arrested For OUI In Bourne

BOSTON (CBS) – A State Police trooper, who was already on restricted duty, was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol on Monday afternoon.

Trooper Robert Gilmore was arrested after witnesses reported a pickup truck being driven erratically on Route 28 in Bourne.

The 38-year-old trooper was not on duty at the time of his arrest because he was on injured leave after he reported suffering a knee injury while working at the Middleborough Barracks five days ago. At the time of the reported injury, Gilmore was on restricted duty for allegedly violating department rules.

"Needless to say, we do not condone the department member's actions as alleged," said State Police spokesman David Procopio. "Eradication of drunk driving has always been, and always will be, a priority of this department."

Gilmore was charged with one count of OUI and will be arraigned Tuesday in Falmouth District Court.
