Registry Of Motor Vehicles
BOSTON (CBS) – It may be a good time to check the expiration date on your license because the Registry of Motor Vehicles will no longer be reminding you.
Emailed license renewal reminders are a thing of the past, at least for the time being.
A spokesperson from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation says the company providing the email renewal reminders was sold.
MassDOT is in negotiations to determine if the new company will continue the same service free of charge.
The RMV is also exploring other possible alternatives for a reminder service.
The RMV discontinued postal mail notifications several years ago.
“We know this is an inconvenience but we are working to restore the service and the end goal is to make it more user-friendly,” a MassDOT spokesperson said.
MassDOT suggests checking you license to see when it expires.
