Trooper Caught Freeloading On Boston Waterfront Violated Department Rules

BOSTON (CBS) - State Police have determined that a veteran trooper who was the focus of an I-Team investigation did violate department rules.

Last fall, the I-Team reported that veteran Trooper Jay Staples was parking his RV on public property on the South Boston waterfront.

He was living there rent free, and hooked his RV up to electricity from a publicly owned building.

Officials can't figure out how much energy was used, but State Police now say Sgt. Staples violated rules.

His exact punishment has not been decided.
