BOSTON (CBS) – Well-known auto dealer Ernie Boch Jr. says he’s considering a bid to buy The Boston Globe.
The New York Times announced earlier this week its plans to sell the newspaper.
Boch is partnering with the president of a Newton marketing agency to explore a possible bid.
“Ernie Boch, Jr., president and CEO of Boch Enterprises and a lifelong Bostonian, is exploring the opportunity of purchasing the Boston Globe. Ernie is teaming up with Bruce Mittman, president and CEO of Mittcom, and partner in Community Broadcasters. Together they bring the financial resources and decades of experience in media and marketing necessary to make this purchase viable,” said a statement from the public relations agency representing him.
The Boston Business Journal was first to report the news about Boch’s plan.
A short time later, Boch tweeted, “Print is not dead.”
