Sullivan's On Castle Island Set To Open Saturday Despite Storm

BOSTON (CBS) - Sullivan's on Castle Island looks to reopen this Saturday after sitting closed for three months during the winter.

The restaurant's first delivery truck of the year arrived Thursday to stock up the South Boston institution.

"People around Southie always say that when Sully's opens, winter is coming to an end," restaurant manager Luke O'Brien said with a grin as he unloaded flour for the kitchen's fryer.

The giant truck brought brooms, paper products and other restaurant essentials. But it also raised an eyebrow or two as the crew unloaded.

"I was just looking at the delivery there, and I said 'wait a minute, these guys have got to be closed!'" said South Boston resident Dana Brehm.

Brehm says he was taken aback by the news the historic hotdog stand is opening up before the winter storms pass. This weekend, Boston could see up to a foot of snow.

Sullivan's management team isn't swayed by the chilly temperatures. They say after 62 years in business, their fans are faithful.

"If the snow is here people will still come down," said O'Brien. "It's kind of become Southie's go to place on the weekends."

The restaurant is looking to hire about 20 people for the spring and summer. You can fill out an application at the store.
