BOSTON (CBS) – Joseph and Jennifer first learned of Gary when they saw his Wednesday’s Child segment on September 15, 2010.
They were drawn to him because of his love of sports. Later, they happened to meet Gary at a MARE adoption party and hit it off.
The social workers agreed it was a good match, and at the age of 11, Gary moved in with his new family in Spring 2011.
They legalized their adoption six months later at National Adoption Day.
Jen states, “We have an amazing support network of people – from the schools to providers to our family, friends and church – we wouldn’t be the family we are today without all of them and their love. This is a process that takes a village, patience, love and candor.”
The family is so glad they took that leap of faith and encourage others to consider adopting a child from foster care.
