Tufts Students Reprimanded For Excessive Drinking At Westin Copley Place

MEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — A top administrator at Tufts University is reprimanding students for alcohol-fueled misconduct during an annual event at one of Boston's top hotels.

Dean of Student Affairs Bruce Reitman said 15 to 20 students who attended the annual Winter Bash at the Westin Copley Place on Feb. 1 required medical attention for excessive alcohol consumption, while some students urinated or vomited in the hotel's bathrooms and lobby.

Reitman indicated in a letter published Tuesday in the Tufts Daily student newspaper that one student who urinated "in the middle of the lobby" was a woman.

He also blamed students for allowing friends to drink too much.

A multi-department review of the event is currently under way and will likely result in major changes to prevent similar behavior in the future.
