Celtics Announce Williams Signing, Cleared To Play Against Lakers

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Celtics have received Terrence Williams' letter of clearance, and the guard will be eligible to play Wednesday night when the C's visit the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Celtics reportedly reached a deal with the former 11th-overall pick to a 10-day contract on Monday, but needed to receive the clearance letter from his former team in China in order for guard to officially join the team.

The team officially announced Williams' signing Wednesday afternoon.

Williams was with the Celtics for their morning shoot-around in Denver on Tuesday, but was not able to participate. He did not play Tuesday night as the Celtics began the post-All-Star break portion of their season with a 97-90 loss to the Nuggets.

The 25-year-old Williams has played in 129 NBA games over his career, averaging 7.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 20.2 minutes per game.
