Patriots Sign Brockton Native, Northeastern Alum Jason Vega
BOSTON (CBS) – The New England Patriots officially announced the signing of defensive lineman Jason Vega on Tuesday morning.
The 25-year-old Vega played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League in 2011 and 2012, recording 66 tackles and 12 sacks.
Vega grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts and played college football at Northeastern. He went undrafted in the 2010 NFL draft, but became a versatile defensive end/linebacker in the CFL. With only five draft picks in the April’s draft, Vega could have a good shot at making the team and give the Patriots a little more depth on the defensive line.

Vega is the second lineman the Patriots have signed from the CFL this off-season, as they also added Armond Armstead back in January.
