Sandwich Police Officer Charged With Trying To Kill Estranged Wife

SANDWICH (CBS) - A veteran Sandwich police officer has been arrested and charged with assault and battery with intent to murder. His target, police say, was his estranged wife.

According to court documents, on Valentine's Day, Forty-six-year-old Officer Mike Hoadley was off-duty when he saw his estranged wife leave someone else's home.

Hoadley followed the woman onto Route 6, where bumped her car several times with his truck, until she lost control of the car, and spun out into the median.

She wasn't hurt.

None of the couple's 3 children were involved in the alleged incident.

Hoadley was in Barnstable District Court on Friday to face charges.

Hoadley's estranged wife was also there, and asked the judge for a restraining order that was granted.
