Sandwich Police Officer Arrested For Ramming Relative's Vehicle

SANDWICH (CBS) - A Sandwich police officer has been charged with assault with intent to murder after he allegedly rammed a relative's vehicle.

State Police arrested 46-year-old Michael Hoadley after the incident on Route 6 late Thursday night.

Police say Hoadley was off-duty when he drove his car into the rear of a relative's vehicle "several times" eventually forcing it off the road and into the median.

No one was hurt.

Police have not released the relative's name or any information about what led to the incident.

Hoadley is also charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), domestic assault and battery, operating to endanger, and leaving the scene of accident with property damage.

He will be arraigned Friday in Barnstable District Court.

According to the Cape Cod Times, Hoadley is a 27-year veteran of the department.

He has been suspended and placed on paid administrative leave.

The Times also reported Hoadley served a three-month suspension for an incident in December 2010 when he struck a light post at a gas station and left the scene without reporting it.
