BOSTON (CBS) – Mayor Menino says he is furious over reports of cars being vandalized in city neighborhoods after the cars parked in spots that someone else had shoveled out and attempted to reserve with a space saver.
Menino has asked police to be extra vigilant in the neighborhoods where these incidents of vandalism have occurred, and to prosecute anyone caught damaging cars.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Carl Stevens reports
“You can’t save your spots anymore,” Menino said on Friday. “We have rules out there. Let’s live by those rules.”
In Allston and Brighton, Friday was trash day; and along with picking up the regular garbage, sanitation workers scooped up lawn chairs, cones, televisions and any other creative post-snow storm parking space savers.

“It’s 48 hours after I removed the snow emergency,” Menino told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. “The spots are free for anyone to go to. I know people shoveled them out, but it’s a public street.”
