BOSTON (CBS) – The MBTA is releasing video of an incident involving a wild masked bandit attempting to go the wrong way down an escalator at Downtown Crossing.
The bandit, more commonly referred to as “a raccoon,” made several unsuccessful attempts to make its way to the platform.
At the start of video, an MBTA employee can be seen stepping onto the escalator and abruptly turning around when he notices the unwelcome visitor.
About 20 seconds later, the raccoon can be seen climbing down a few steps before the up escalator carries him back toward the street. The animal proceeds to make several more failed attempts to get down into the T station.
MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo reportedly joked to Universal Hub that animal control officers were able to capture the raccoon and get it out of the area before T officers could issue it a citation for fare evasion.
