BOSTON (CBS) – Local students were returning to school Wednesday after Friday’s blizzard wreaked havoc on local roads and crews worked overtime to clear school grounds.
Somerville Public Schools were originally scheduled to be off until Thursday but a last-minute decision by school administrators sent students back to school Wednesday.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Carl Stevens reports
“Some kids planned trips to Vermont to snowboard on Monday and then they got the news they had to come back last [Tuesday] night,” one student told WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Carl Stevens.
On Tuesday, Mayor Tom Menino announced Boston Public Schools would return to class Wednesday and the parking ban and snow emergency would be lifted.
Boston Public Schools told WBZ-TV, there were some stuck buses during Wednesday morning’s pickups.
No parking signs are up in some areas to allow crews to continue to clear roadways.
