Residents returned to the 30-unit building Tuesday morning to retrieve belongings.

Some told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens it's not just the snow that's to blame for the collapse, it's negligence on the part of the building's owners.

"I'm trying to get another apartment as soon as possible," Miguel Compos said. "It's not going to be easy."

Compos, who lives in a third floor unit, said people were crying as the building was evacuated Monday night and some had no place to go.The Red Cross responded to the scene to help residents but many are staying with family and friends.

The building inspector says the complex is not safe and no one is allowed to move back in until he says otherwise.
