WORCESTER— An off-duty Worcester firefighter died Saturday after having a heart attack while clearing his driveway.
Firefighter Patrick E. Germain, 60, was clearing his driveway with a snow blower when he began feeling sick.
After going inside to take a break, he went back out later to finish removing the snow and suffered a heart attack.
Germain was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
Germain spent nearly 33 years with the department, and had just celebrated his 60th birthday two weeks ago.
Germain leaves behind his wife, Kelly, four grown children and a stepdaughter.
