BRIDGEWATER (CBS) – The man suspected of setting two dozen fires will not be getting out of jail.
A judge ruled today that Mark Sargent, 45, is too dangerous to be released.
Sargent and his stepson Jeanmarie Louis, 23, are charged with setting a fire in West Bridgewater but authorities believe Sargent set 24 fires throughout four counties.
Sargent first came to the attention of investigators in December, when a fire was set at a boatyard in Marshfield.
At the time, investigators spotted Sargent nearby and when they questioned him, he had no good reason to be in the area.
Police got a warrant, then planted a GPS device in his car, which later put his vehicle at the scene of at least eight arson fires.
