BOSTON (CBS) – Get ready to say goodbye to Saturday mail delivery – most of it, anyway.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Lana Jones reports
The U.S. Postal Service will announce Wednesday it wants to end Saturday delivery of first-class mail, starting August 1.
That means most mailers, letters and catalogs would not arrive on Saturdays.
However, packages, Priority and Express Mail and vital medicines would continue to be delivered.
The move needs to be approved by Congress.
The struggling postal service has lost $41 billion over the past six years.
It expects to save $2 billion a year by dropping Saturday delivery.
