BOSTON (CBS) – Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger? Depp’s portrayal of the Boston mobster could soon grace the big screen.

According to Deadline.com, Johnny Deep is slated to star in the Cross Creek crime thriller “Black Mass,” with Barry Levinson directing him.

Universal Pictures is set to release the film in the U.S. through Cross Creek’s distribution deal with the studio, and production is said to begin in May, Deadline.com reports.

Ben Affleck is also said to be working on a Whitey Bulger project scripted by Boardwalk Empire creator Terrence Winter with Matt Damon expected to play the mobster.
