Wednesday's Child: 8-Year-Old Lanaisha

BOSTON (CBS) - Lanaisha, 8, is an outgoing, articulate African-American girl who makes friends easily.

She is legally free for adoption, and her social worker is seeking a patient family who can give Lanaisha the attention she needs.

Lanaisha is very artistic and enjoys coloring. In the past, she has wanted to be an artist.

She is now more interested in singing and performing. She loves shoes and long-haired dolls.

Presently in the first grade, Lanaisha can be demanding of attention from her teachers and peers. She does not do well in a structured setting.

Lanaisha attends weekly therapy to help her address issues around loss, separation and neglect. She is afraid of cats and dogs.

Lanaisha would do well in an experienced two-parent family with a good support network.

It would be best if Lanaisha were the only or youngest child if other children were in the home. The ideal family for Lanaisha would help her maintain contact with her younger sister and brother.

To learn more about Lanaisha, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org.

The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
