Hingham Woman Arrested For OUI Head-On Crash With 3-Year-Old In Car

HINGHAM (CBS) - A woman allegedly told police she was on Oxycodone, Percocet and Klonopin when she crashed her car into oncoming traffic with a 3-year-old she was babysitting in the backseat.

The crash caused serious injuries to the driver of the other vehicle.

On Friday, police received a call from someone who was behind a 1998 Chrysler Sebring that appeared to be "all over the road."

As police were headed to the scene, the car crossed over the center line on Fort Hill Street and struck another car head on.

After the crash, the Chrysler caught fire. Witnesses, including two off-duty Hull firefighters, stopped to help.

The driver of the Chrysler, 54-year-old Marcia Blake, told police she had taken several medications before driving. Police say she had slurred speech and pin-point pupils.

Blake was taken to a nearby hospital. The 3-year-old girl from Hull was properly secured in a child seat and was not injured.

According to police, Blake was babysitting the child for a relative.

The 67-year-old driver of the car Blake crashed into was taken to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries.

Blake has been charged with driving while under the influence of drugs (second offense), driving while under the influence of drugs and causing serious bodily injury and reckless operation, child endangerment while under the influence of drugs, driving to endanger and marked lanes violation.

Blake was released on personal recognizance. She will be arraigned Tuesday.
